About Us
Dr Katherine Gordiev is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Shoulder & Upper Limb Elective and Trauma surgery. She is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons & The Shoulder & Elbow Society of Australia and the Cleveland Clinic Alumni Association.
Dr Gordiev graduated from the University of Sydney in 1993 with First Class Honours in Medicine & Surgery, having been awarded the Sir John Loewenthal Prize in Surgery from the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. During her university studies, Dr Gordiev was selected to undertake Clinical Clerkships in Orthopaedics at the Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, UK.
In 2003 Dr Gordiev was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). This involved terms in advanced training at The Canberra Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred, Royal North Shore, Westmead Hospitals in Sydney and at The Shriners Orthopaedic Hospital, Portland, USA.
Upon completion of her Australian Orthopaedic training, Dr Gordiev undertook an 18 month Shoulder Surgery Fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA, with Professor Joseph Iannotti & Dr John Brems. This institution continues to inspire world leading patient centred care, research and innovation.
Dr Gordiev commenced practice in Canberra in 2005. She maintains currency with advances in the field, uses 3D computer planning software, employs patient specific instruments and biologics and confers with colleagues, with the goal of achieving the optimal surgical outcome for patients in her care.

Teaching
Dr Gordiev has been a Clinical Lecturer at the Australian National University Medical School since 2006. She has had a commitment to teaching throughout her training, and received a certificate for excellence in teaching whilst working at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown, in 2002.
